Materials:
Copper and brass sheet, copper wire.
Black patina (surface color).
Clear Varnish (protects surface)

Size:
7/8” diameter (2.25 cm)
About the size of a US nickel.

This pendant series started with the simple concept of recycling discarded scrap metal. Starting with scrap sheet, I cut disc and random shapes out. The scraps ultimately play a part in the finished look. Because these are produced from scrap, slight defects maybe present but do not take away from the feel. There maybe dings , deep scratches, or hammer textures that add to the surface pattern. Care is taken when working on the pieces design. I will spend time placing and rearranging the smaller scraps till I feel the design is interesting. Once the pieces are assembled together, I apply a patina to the surface of the metal. This brings out the depth and shape of the pendants. I then file and sand the the surface of the metal scraps to their original color. They are then hammered to a slight bowl shape. To reveal the textures created by hammer marks and scratches I will polish the surface slightly. The surface is then sprayed with a clear varnish that will protect the color and prevent the copper and brass from tarnishing.

There is something fascinating about hand crafted jewelry. The feel, look, and knowledge that someone hand made the piece adds a value that can not be duplicated in mass production.

Sold!

That's pretty cool... So, the raised brass elements are glued to the copper disk?

--
I am a morpheme addict.
:icontallguyken:
They are soldered to the disc.
