Copper wire and sheet.
Black patina (surface color).
Clear Varnish (protects surface)

This pendant series started with the simple concept of recycling discarded scrap metal. Starting with scrap sheet, I cut and smith the pendants into their shapes. The scraps ultimately play a part in the finished look. Because these are produced from scrap, slight defects maybe present but do not take away from the feel. There maybe dings , deep scratches, or hammer textures that add to the surface pattern. Once the two halves are assembled together, I apply a patina to the surface of the metal. This brings out the depth and shape of the pendants. To reveal the textures created by hammer marks and scratches I will polish the surface slightly. The surface is then sprayed with a clear varnish that will protect the color and prevent the copper from tarnishing.

There is something fascinating about hand crafted jewelry. The feel, look, and knowledge that someone hand made the piece adds a value that can not be duplicated in mass production.
